Paris Saint-Germain and Reims women's teams ran for cover as fireworks were launched at the field causing their match to be abandoned on Saturday.

The second half of the Division 1 Feminine match had just kicked off when fireworks started erupting above the pitch. The referee quickly blew the whistle to stop the game and all players fled from the field and down the tunnel.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
After long discussions taking around 40 minutes, the decision was made to not continue the match after just 46 minutes of play with the game tied at 0-0. No injuries have been reported.
The incident comes less than a week after Montpellier and Clermont in Ligue 1 was stopped after a firecracker exploded in front of goalkeeper Mory Diaw.
