During a recent training session for the Mexican national team at Dignity Health Sports Park, LA Galaxy's Maya Yoshida had an impromptu reunion with his former club teammate Efrain Alvarez and ex-Japan coach Javier Aguirre.
The Japanese defender, who joined the Galaxy in 2024, took the opportunity to catch up with Alvarez and Aguirre as Mexico prepared for their CONCACAF Nations League final against Panama. El Tri won, beating Panama 2-1 to lift their first Nations League crown.

Efrain Alvarez was a part of LA Galaxy’s youth system before making his first team debut in March 2019 and went on to make 94 appearances for the MLS side before leaving for Tijuana in September 2023.
Javier Aguirre, on the other hand, spent time with Yoshida during his tenure as the Japanese national team’s head coach from 2014 to 2015. Yoshida was a key part of the national team set-up.

WHAT’S NEXT?
Following the international break, LA Galaxy face Orlando City on March 29 and then host Tigres UANL in the first leg of their quarterfinal clash in the CONCACAF Champions Cup on April 1.
They then have back-to-back away games as the Galaxy face Real Salt Lake on the road on April 5 and then play the second leg away against Tigres UANL on April 8.
